God Is Not Forgetful (The Shorter Version)

Written by Larry M. Jaynes:

Having just returned from the grocery store and realizing that I forgot an item that the kids needed, I am sure that another trip to the store is forthcoming. However, and thankfully our God is not forgetful, He will always remember His promises to us.

Hebrews 6:10 – For God is not unrighteous to forget your work and labour of love, which ye have shewed toward his name, in that ye have ministered to the saints, and do minister.

A “saint” is a fellow believer and one who is saved, made holy, and sanctified by God. Our God will always remember the work we do and in an earlier study we saw that the work we do is to believe His Word. Now here in Hebrews 6:10 God mentions our “labor of love” and this love has a direction “toward his name, in that ye have ministered to the saints.” To minister is to help one another, and whenever believers help other believers and they can do so out of love, then this brings glory to the name of our God. God Himself will never forget your labor of love or the glory your giving has given to His name. God most definitely will reward us throughout all eternity for anything and everything that we believers do for one another out of love.

Mark 9:41 – For whosoever shall give you a cup of water to drink in my name, because ye belong to Christ, verily I say unto you, he shall not lose his reward.

Can you imagine giving only a cup of water to another human being will bring you a reward in heaven? Do you know what? God will not forget when you give in love, and He will reward you now and throughout eternity. These are promises from God and from Jesus Christ! And do you know what else? The water we give in the name of Christ will taste better (for it will be “blessed”) when given in love because God will indeed bless it.

When we look for opportunities to simply bless others for the sake of love, and not simply just looking for the reward, the blissful rewards will be even more abundant. God is not forgetful; He remembers your labor of love (I Thessalonians 1:3). So when the opportunity arises to help someone out in one way or another, please do so out of your personal love and devotion to God. And remember that your labor of love will not be wasted (even if someone else does not thank you), because our God will reward you richly.
