God Is No Respecter of Persons

Written by Larry M. Jaynes:

Acts 10:34:  Then Peter opened his mouth, and said, Of a truth I perceive that God is no respecter of persons:

Before Peter actually spoke the words in the verse above, he thought that God was only the God of the people of Israel. God literally had to prove to Peter that his thinking was wrong, and finally Peter himself began to understand that God was not a respecter of people. Peter began to realize what God was trying to teach him all along (Acts 10:9-16), and this is why Peter confessed, “Of a truth I perceive that God is no respecter of persons.”

Today God is still the same — He has not changed, as we read in Malachi 3:6, “For I am the LORD, I change not.” Since God never changes, then He must still be no respecter of persons, no, not even at this moment in time. God never looks at the appearance of anyone, and He does not favor one group of people above another. God always looks at the heart, and He always blesses people who will simply believe in Him. Social standing in society may use boundaries or group classifications, but our God never does. The LORD our God said to Samuel, “for the LORD seeth not as man seeth; for man looketh on the outward appearance, but the LORD looketh on the heart” (I Samuel 16:7).

Romans 2:11:  For there is no respect of persons with God.

God never looks at your bank account or your clothes or your shoes or the car you drive before deciding whether or not you are worthy of His kingdom and glory, and He never looks at your friends or the clubs and organizations you belong to before deciding whether or not you are worthy to enter into His glory.

I Peter 1:17:  And if ye call on the Father, who without respect of persons judgeth according to every man’s work, pass the time of your sojourning here {on earth} in fear {in respect for God}:

God looks at every man’s work. The work always represents our believing of the Scriptures, not the jobs we currently have or whether or not we are a good worker, although being a good worker is always a good way to pass the day. God is always concerned about our believing, for this He can and will honor, and this is the only criterion that God ever notices. Do we believe the Scriptures or do we not? This is God’s concern, because when and where we believe, we will receive from Him, and it is His pleasure to reward us according to our believing.

Colossians 1:10:   That ye might walk worthy of the Lord unto all pleasing, being fruitful in every good work, and increasing in the knowledge of God.

I Thessalonians 1:3:   Remembering without ceasing your work of faith, and labour of love, and patience of hope in our Lord Jesus Christ, in the sight of God and our Father.

When we increase in the knowledge of God, we increase in the WORK of believing-faith, labor of love, and patience of hope which will inspire us to remember and consider that we are ever in the sight of God. We can learn of God’s respect that He holds for His children, and that you, my friend, are a child of God, and this Scripture enforces the comforting knowledge that He is truly our Father!

So today recall from time to time while you are spending your day down here that God the Almighty looks up to you as His child, and He endows you with His own honor and respect (Psalms 91:14-16). This same respect you may also learn to have for your fellow man; this is a God-like character that can set the believing Christian apart, and perhaps inspire a lost soul into returning back home to his Creator and the respect of God.

Hebrews 6:10:   For God is not unrighteous to forget your work and labour of love, which ye have shewed toward his name, in that ye have ministered to the saints, and do minister.
