Love Covereth All

Written by Larry M. Jaynes:

Proverbs 10:12:
Hatred stirreth up strifes: but love covereth all sins.

Hate is an emotion that causes people to choose sides as hate will always reach out for likeminded comrades, which further breaches the two apart with more strife – always has – and always will. This cycle seems to have no end or remedy that can be offered in which two opposites will ever agree. Yet there is one way out and God has had it covered from antiquity – LOVE!

Love is a decision of the mind that is life changing; love someone you hated and you will see that your decision to conduct your life’s actions in love will cover the sin (all sins) that hate stirred up in the first place. Is the offence still there? Yes, but it is covered through love so that the believer can move beyond the battle and into perfect fellowship with his God!

Hate is manifested through continued strife between two parties, whether among two individuals or even as widespread as hatreds of two different peoples.

Stirreth up means to lift up as a spear is lifted up and held in battle with the intent of inflecting harm to the opponent, but hate is disheartening, hate is weakening, hate is revengeful, hate is blinding, and hate is definitely sinning!

Love is disarming (hate), love is empowering (the lover), love is forgiving (the offender), love is insightful (to God’s will), and love is quiescently covering (all sins)!

With God’s love, you only need one participant – yourself, for love grants you fellowship with the Giver of love.

Love, God’s love manifested in a believer will conquer over hatreds, for love is the Christian’s powerbase that sanctions the quenching of strife and hatred.

When we look at people, we see people who are often fallible, but when we look to God, we will begin to see people as He does – with love.

God is the supplier, and He continues to give to the giver of His love. One such gift is love covereth all sins.

God’s love releases all the burdens you really can’t live with anyways so you can pleasingly walk with God – justified!

Proverbs 17:9 (The Amplified Bible):*
He who covers and forgives an offense seeks love, but he who repeats or harps on a matter {a past offence or sin} separates even close friends.

I Peter 4:8 (The Amplified Bible):*
Above all things have intense and unfailing love for one another, for love covers a multitude of sins [forgives and disregards the offenses of others].

I John 2:9-11 (The Amplified Bible):*
-9: Whoever says he is in the Light and [yet] hates his brother [Christian, born-again child of God his Father] is in darkness even until now.
-10: Whoever loves his brother [believer] abides (lives) in the Light, and in It or in him there is no occasion for stumbling or cause for error or sin.
-11: But he who hates (detests, despises) his brother [in Christ] is in darkness and walking (living) in the dark; he is straying and does not perceive or know where he is going, because the darkness has blinded his eyes.

I John 4:17-19 (The Amplified Bible):*
-17: In this [union and communion with Him] love is brought to completion and attains perfection with us, that we may have confidence for the day of judgment [with assurance and boldness to face Him], because as He is, so are we in this world.
-18: There is no fear in love [dread does not exist], but full-grown (complete, perfect) love turns fear out of doors and expels every trace of terror! For fear brings with it the thought of punishment, and [so] he who is afraid has not reached the full maturity of love [is not yet grown into love’s complete perfection].
-19: We love Him, because He first loved us.

Mathew 5:43-48 (The Amplified Bible):*
-43: You have heard that it was said, You shall love your neighbor and hate your enemy;
-44: But I tell you, Love your enemies and pray for those who persecute you,
-45: To show that you are the children of your Father Who is in heaven; for He makes His sun rise on the wicked and on the good, and makes the rain fall upon the upright and the wrongdoers [alike].
-46: For if you love those who love you, what reward can you have? Do not even the tax collectors do that?
-47: And if you greet only your brethren, what more than others are you doing? Do not even the Gentiles (the heathen {the unbelievers}) do that?
-48: You, therefore, must be perfect [growing into complete maturity of godliness in mind and character, having reached the proper height of virtue and integrity], as your heavenly Father is perfect.
