His Glorious Body – Our Future Hope

“Jesus’ body on the cross shed blood profusely; his body contained the perfect redeeming blood (Hebrews 2:14, I Peter 1:18–19), as Judas said I have betrayed the innocent blood– Matthew 27:4, but something amazing happened when he was raised from the sepulcher. His followers thought that if he was ever to be raised, then he would become a spirit (as in ghostly looking) because when they first saw him, they supposed that they had seen a spirit– Luke 24:37. Things have not changed much as most people nowadays suppose that anyone raised from the dead is a ghostly spirit. Now notice what Jesus was missing as well as what he still had when he presented himself to his disciples proving that he was not simply a spirit, Behold my hands and my feet {where the spikes passed through}, that it is I myself: handle me, and see; for a spirit hath not flesh and bones, as ye see me have– Luke 24:39. Yes, he was a spiritual being, but one without any blood and still having flesh and bones and in this form he was raised in the likeness and image of God. Jesus was in the express image of his {God’s} person– Hebrews 1:3, just as we will be with our new bodies. Even now in grace we are members of his body, of his flesh, and of his bones– Ephesians 5:30, but we have no part in his blood, for he has none, his blood was shed for our eternal redemption (Ephesians 1:7, 2:13, and I Peter 1:18-19). There is a natural body, and there is {or there will be} a spiritual body {with flesh and bones}- I Corinthians 15:44, perfect – eternal – heavenly – Christ-like in every detail ― fashioned like unto his glorious body– Philippians 3:21, awakened perfectly in his likeness! As for me, I will behold thy face in righteousness: I shall be satisfied, when I awake, with thy likeness– Psalms 17:15.” ~LMJ~
