Together with Christ

Written by Larry M. Jaynes:

The Epistle of Romans reveals that Jesus Christ was our complete substitute for sin, and that in Christ we were (spiritually) baptized with him, and that we were raised with him to “walk in newness of life” (Romans 6:4). Romans shows us that the sinner is totally forgiven from the sin nature, and that we will never again be separated from God, from Christ, and from their love. The first three chapters of Ephesians continue with the newness of life that Romans reveals, further accentuating that we are spiritually quickened, raised, and seated together with Christ at the right hand of God. Ephesians shows us that God has set us up on high with Christ Jesus. Yes, we are physically here upon this earth. However, Ephesians also reveals God’s true spiritual viewpoint of us, that we are already spiritually seated in the heavenlies with Christ. Ephesians guides us with heavenly insights on how to enjoy our new life together with Christ having all the fullness of God.

Ephesians 2:4-5:
-4:  But God, who is rich in mercy, for his great love wherewith he loved us,
-5: {This next verse shows the immensity of the great love that God has for us:} Even when we were dead in sins, {God} hath quickened us together with Christ, (by grace ye are saved;)

Although we originally came to God as sinners and were on a course that would eventually end without God and without hope in this world, yet with God’s mercy and great love He has “quickened us together with Christ.” “Quickened” here means to be made spiritually alive. We are spiritually alive, and saved, being now eternally made whole with Christ before God in His love. This is a wondrous gift given to us by the divine grace of God.

Ephesians 2:6a – And {God} hath raised us up together, . . .

We were first quickened with Christ, then Ephesians says that we have been raised up together, and that is to our rightful heavenly position in Christ as the children of God. Spiritually we are already quickened and raised up together to be with Christ. When we begin to see ourselves through the eyes (with spiritual understanding) of what and whom God’s Word says we are, then we will freely partake of the true spiritual life that we have and share together with Christ!

Ephesians 2:6b – and {God} made us sit {at rest} together in heavenly places in Christ Jesus:

As we believe God’s healing Word regarding our true heavenly standing, we will begin walking with tremendous understanding and power, for God will literally enable us to enjoy the spiritual truths in all that we are in Christ, and in all that we have together with Christ. We were first quickened (made spiritually alive) to live together with Christ. We next have been raised up together with Christ to a heavenly standing, equally proportionate to that of Christ Jesus’ own standing with God. We then have been seated together with Christ in the heavenlies, giving us inner rest that comes to us without works (Ephesians 2:8-9). God will continue to reveal to us our perfect union and serenity because we are finally and truly at home together with Christ, and spiritually we are already at the right hand of God Almighty.

Flying High

“Christ’s faith gives the Christian believer the feeling of flying high because God has, raised us up together, and made us sit together in heavenly places in Christ Jesus– Ephesians 2:6, and ye are risen with him {Christ} through the faith of the operation of God, who hath raised him from the dead– Colossians 2:12.” ~LMJ~

Ephesians – Revealing Our Heavenly Standing

Written by Larry M. Jaynes:

The Epistle of Ephesians contains the greatest revelation ever given to the Church of God. Ephesians reveals wonderful truths of what God has done for us, based entirely on His love, rather than upon what we may earn, and shows us how to understand and spiritually walk within our heavenly standing.

In Ephesians we learn about the oneness of the body of believers, and that Christ is the spiritual head of this body and that each believer is an intricate and important member. Ephesians reveals the great mystery that was never known or revealed to anyone until the grace administration began, which was fifty days after Jesus was resurrected.

The new Church of God and the Christian rise and expansion of God’s Church continues to this very day.

Ephesians 2:5-6:
-5: Even when we were dead in sins {before our salvation}, hath quickened us together with Christ, (by grace ye are saved;)
-6: And hath raised us up together, and made us sit together in heavenly places in Christ Jesus:

To be “quickened” is the exact opposite of being “dead in sins” because we have been given eternal life, and this gives us daily enjoyment to live our lives with our Savior and with God. Our salvation is given to us by the grace of God (Ephesians 2:8-9).

We could never earn salvation; it was graciously given to us as a gift from our God based solely upon the redeeming work of Jesus Christ. We have also been “raised up together” meaning no one was left out, for everybody who becomes saved belongs to God, and we “together” with Christ have been raised to a new life.

Then verse 6 says “made us sit together in heavenly places in Christ Jesus:”; this is our heavenly standing given to us by God. This is the “spiritual” point of view of God, and the “spiritual” point of view that believers today can enjoy.

Of course we literally live here on earth, but from a biblical viewpoint the Word of God says that we are already risen up to the heavenly standing to be in Christ Jesus.

This is why we believers can walk above worldly situations and become more than conquerors in daily life. God has set us on high, giving us spiritual and heavenly inspirations.

Ephesians 2:19 – Now therefore ye are no more strangers and foreigners, but fellow-citizens with the saints, and of the household of God;

Right now, today, we are fellow-citizens with the saints.  A saint is a believer, you and I are saints, and you and I are fellow-citizens, not of an earthly kingdom, but much rather we are fellow-citizens “of the household of God.”

Being members of God’s household is what we have been spiritually risen up to, for we are risen up and ushered into our assigned front row seating by Jesus Christ himself so that we may enjoy the spiritual truth that we are intricate members of God’s eternal heavenly family.

Ephesians 6:14 – Stand therefore, having your loins girt about with truth, and having on the breastplate of righteousness;

Not only were we quickened and raised up together and seated, but we may also “stand.”  The word stand has connotations that mean we have realized the enormous privilege God has given to us so that we can stand shoulder to shoulder with one another and with our risen Lord and Savior Jesus Christ. This is our heavenly calling, which is the vocation wherein we were called by God.

Ephesians 4:1 – I THEREFORE, the prisoner of the Lord, beseech you that ye walk worthy of the vocation {calling} wherewith ye were called,

Again, we were quickened, risen, seated, and given our heavenly standing into God’s household, so that we may then “walk worthy!”

The true value of God’s written Word comes to light in life when we begin believing on the accomplished work of Jesus Christ who has made Our Heavenly Standing a reality.

May you continue enjoying your standing as sons and daughters of God’s holy household, and may we continue walking immersed in the wonderful grace of God that has brought to us eternal salvation!
