Ephesians – Revealing Our Heavenly Standing

Written by Larry M. Jaynes:

The Epistle of Ephesians contains the greatest revelation ever given to the Church of God. Ephesians reveals wonderful truths of what God has done for us, based entirely on His love, rather than upon what we may earn, and shows us how to understand and spiritually walk within our heavenly standing.

In Ephesians we learn about the oneness of the body of believers, and that Christ is the spiritual head of this body and that each believer is an intricate and important member. Ephesians reveals the great mystery that was never known or revealed to anyone until the grace administration began, which was fifty days after Jesus was resurrected.

The new Church of God and the Christian rise and expansion of God’s Church continues to this very day.

Ephesians 2:5-6:
-5: Even when we were dead in sins {before our salvation}, hath quickened us together with Christ, (by grace ye are saved;)
-6: And hath raised us up together, and made us sit together in heavenly places in Christ Jesus:

To be “quickened” is the exact opposite of being “dead in sins” because we have been given eternal life, and this gives us daily enjoyment to live our lives with our Savior and with God. Our salvation is given to us by the grace of God (Ephesians 2:8-9).

We could never earn salvation; it was graciously given to us as a gift from our God based solely upon the redeeming work of Jesus Christ. We have also been “raised up together” meaning no one was left out, for everybody who becomes saved belongs to God, and we “together” with Christ have been raised to a new life.

Then verse 6 says “made us sit together in heavenly places in Christ Jesus:”; this is our heavenly standing given to us by God. This is the “spiritual” point of view of God, and the “spiritual” point of view that believers today can enjoy.

Of course we literally live here on earth, but from a biblical viewpoint the Word of God says that we are already risen up to the heavenly standing to be in Christ Jesus.

This is why we believers can walk above worldly situations and become more than conquerors in daily life. God has set us on high, giving us spiritual and heavenly inspirations.

Ephesians 2:19 – Now therefore ye are no more strangers and foreigners, but fellow-citizens with the saints, and of the household of God;

Right now, today, we are fellow-citizens with the saints.  A saint is a believer, you and I are saints, and you and I are fellow-citizens, not of an earthly kingdom, but much rather we are fellow-citizens “of the household of God.”

Being members of God’s household is what we have been spiritually risen up to, for we are risen up and ushered into our assigned front row seating by Jesus Christ himself so that we may enjoy the spiritual truth that we are intricate members of God’s eternal heavenly family.

Ephesians 6:14 – Stand therefore, having your loins girt about with truth, and having on the breastplate of righteousness;

Not only were we quickened and raised up together and seated, but we may also “stand.”  The word stand has connotations that mean we have realized the enormous privilege God has given to us so that we can stand shoulder to shoulder with one another and with our risen Lord and Savior Jesus Christ. This is our heavenly calling, which is the vocation wherein we were called by God.

Ephesians 4:1 – I THEREFORE, the prisoner of the Lord, beseech you that ye walk worthy of the vocation {calling} wherewith ye were called,

Again, we were quickened, risen, seated, and given our heavenly standing into God’s household, so that we may then “walk worthy!”

The true value of God’s written Word comes to light in life when we begin believing on the accomplished work of Jesus Christ who has made Our Heavenly Standing a reality.

May you continue enjoying your standing as sons and daughters of God’s holy household, and may we continue walking immersed in the wonderful grace of God that has brought to us eternal salvation!

You are Accepted in the Beloved

Written by Larry M. Jaynes:

The Epistle of Ephesians is the greatest revelation ever given to the Church of God, and believers collectively make up the Church of God – we are all members within the spiritual body of Christ. Ephesians shows us the greatest present ever presented to mankind and contains the doctrine (the right believing) of what God has currently given to us. Ephesians shows us how to conduct our lives within the framework of having received the love of God. The first three chapters of Ephesians lays out in great detail what God has given to us, showing us how we are permanently accepted in the beloved, and that we are endowed with the riches of God’s lovingkindness. The last three chapters are the prACTical side of the doctrine showing us how to utilize and walk within the magnificent graces of God that is upon our lives.

Ephesians 1:3 – Blessed be the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, who hath blessed us with all spiritual blessings in heavenly places in Christ:

“Heavenly places” means all heavenly things, God has blessed us with all heavenly things and it is the Epistles that show us these heavenly things. Romans shows the believer that he was raised with Christ to a new life with God. Ephesians, being the second Epistle of doctrine, picks up where Romans ended and shows the believers that they are blessed in and with heavenly things because we are spiritually seated up where Christ is at God’s own right hand, for we are “in Christ.”

Ephesians 1:4 – According as he {God} hath chosen us {to be} in him before the foundation of the world, that we should be holy and without blame before him in {His} love:

God Himself chose us before the foundation of the world with a purpose, and that purpose is that we “should be holy and without blame before him in love,” and this we are. The word “should” is in relation to the attitude of our hearts, the attitude that God desires that we should see ourselves as God does, holy and without blame, seated before Him in His unending love. When we begin to see ourselves in this elevated and esteemed state in which God has placed us, then life truly begins to take on a whole new meaning, knowing that we truly are blessed with all spiritual blessings immersed in the wonderful love of God.

Ephesians 1:5 – Having predestinated us unto the adoption of {God’s} children by Jesus Christ to himself, according to the good pleasure of his will,

Predestination relates to our calling, our being chosen before the world began to become God’s children, and this happened because of the work of Jesus Christ on our behalf. Becoming God’s own children is the good pleasure of His will, which is freely offered to us in grace.

Ephesians 1:6 – To the praise of the glory of his grace, wherein {God’s grace} he hath {past tense} made us accepted in the beloved.

God made us totally “accepted in the beloved”; the beloved is Jesus Christ, for we are now eternally in Christ. The words “made us accepted” means highly favored. These are the same words in the Greek Text that the Angel used for Mary in Luke 1:28, for she conceived the Son of God. We also have received the seed of Christ, (not for 9 months, but forever), thus we are highly favored of God. This is the greatest present that God ever gave to humanity, and is our joy and privilege to know that we have received the greatest gift ever given, and it is ours for eternity.
