Life Ever After

“Life ever after was contingent upon the first coming of the Messiah. Jesus Christ is the Messiah, the same one that Israel was hoping for and he indeed came, and now the promised life of eternity is a done deal because he gave his life for the world (John 3:16). Jesus told Martha (one of Lazarus’ sisters), I am the resurrection, and the life- John 11:25. It is in knowing him that we find the plan of Redemption planned for us; it is through him that we receive eternal life. Without knowing him, one cannot grasp true spiritual matters of life ever after. However, when we learn of Jesus, the resurrection, and the life, he reveals the comfort and surety of our Life Ever After.” ~LMJ~

Hosea – Revealing Our Ransom

Written by Larry M. Jaynes:

In the Book of Hosea, the children of Israel were in dire straits because of their rejection of God’s Word given to them by God’s prophets. Yet even in the midst of such gross misbehavior from God’s chosen people, He assures them of their future hope and victory that will be theirs in the end times.

In Hosea, Jesus Christ was symbolized as the “rain” (Hosea 6:3), and the “dew” (Hosea 14:5), representing that Christ is the true essence of spiritual life coming from above (the rain) and receiving their resurrection (the dew) into life eternal.

Jesus Christ would become their Redeemer and the price of ransom which would insure their future resurrection. In Hosea 4:6 we read, “My people are destroyed for lack of knowledge:” They had a lack of knowledge, not because there was no knowledge, wisdom, or understanding available from God, but rather they had lack of knowledge because they rejected God’s Word spoken to them by His prophets.

Hosea 10:12-13:
-12: Sow to yourselves righteousness, reap in mercy: break up your fallow ground {of the mind}: for it is time to seek the LORD: till he come and rain righteousness upon you.
-13: Ye have plowed wickedness, ye have reaped iniquity; ye have eaten the fruit of lies: because thou didst trust in thy way, in the multitude of thy mighty men.

“The multitude of thy mighty men” was those who sought knowledge without accepting and receiving God’s knowledge, and they with their own knowledge walked in their ways and lead Israel straight into the ground. This is so human of people to look to themselves and their own abilities and understanding rather than trusting in God; trusting in the wisdom of the day rather than the wisdom of eternity. God is asking them again (over and over again) to seek the Lord, and accept God to rain His righteousness upon them, and try to the best of their abilities to walk with Him.

God’s healing Word not only gives His children great hope and expectations but explains to them why and how eternal salvation will be granted to them.

Hosea 13:14a – I will ransom them from the power of the grave; I will redeem them from death: O death, I will be thy plagues; O grave, I will be thy destruction: . . .

This verse is a prophecy relating to Jesus Christ who for God would ransom God’s people from the power of the grave. Jesus Christ would also redeem them from eternal death because he would become the only ransom that would allow God to resurrect them. Jesus Christ would also be the complete and total future destruction of the grave. He said in John 11:25 “I am the resurrection, and the life,” because he “gave himself a ransom for all” (I Timothy 2:6), and so he is Our Ransom and thus we were bought (and purchased) with the price of the life of Jesus Christ.

As Israel had hope in the coming of Christ to ransom humanity, today the believers can believe that Jesus Christ has already paid the ransom giving us daily hope of our heavenly future.

Matthew 20:28 – Even as the Son of man came not to be ministered unto, but to minister, and to give his life a ransom for many.

I Peter 1:18-21:
-18: Forasmuch as ye know that ye were not redeemed with corruptible things, as silver and gold, from your vain conversation received by tradition from your fathers; {Even though some think that they can buy their way into heaven, it is totally impossible because Jesus Christ has already paid the complete and total price of redemption with his very own life’s blood.}
-19: But {we were redeemed} with the precious blood of Christ, as of a lamb without blemish and without spot:
-20: Who verily was foreordained before the foundation of the world, but was manifest in these last times for you {the “last times” means the past times of the Gospel period},
-21: Who by him do believe in God, that raised him up from the dead, and gave him glory; that your faith {your believing faith} and hope might be in God.
